The Island of Love UK Star Amy Hart has given fans a health update after testing positive for HPV in May following a routine test.

Earlier this week, the 29-year-old confirmed she underwent an ‘uncomfortable’ colposcopy to check whether or not she had abnormal cervical cells, as a positive HPV diagnosis may be a precursor to cervical cancer. ‘uterus.

Amy then told her followers it was ‘not good news’ as a nurse told her they looked like ‘high quality cells’, and there was a good chance they should be deleted.

But Amy reassured fans she was fine and urged everyone to get their potentially life-saving smear tests as soon as possible.

Following the procedure, Amy said on her Instagram Stories: “Pretty uncomfortable while it was going on. Pretty uncomfortable now.

“I bled a lot. So a lot of the discomfort was that they had to try to stop the bleeding, like applying pressure.

“Before I came in, the lovely nurse who looked after me told me that she would only do biopsies if she really had to.

“Surprise, surprise, they really, really had to do the biopsies. They said in the pictures the cells looked really good quality, so they’ll probably have to pull them out and send them in for testing, so I’ll have flip.

“But again, she’ll only take them out if she really has to, because the more you take out, the more likely you are to have preterm labor when you have children.

“But I hope all is well!”

Amy continued: “So yeah, that’s not great news, but I’m really glad I got all my smears on time. So if you’re watching this thinking, ‘Oh, my smear is late. Please, please go and book it.”

During a cervical screening appointment, a small sample of cells is taken from a woman’s cervix, which is then sent to a lab for testing.

If there is no HPV infection, you do not need another screening for five years. If there is an HPV infection, another screening is required in 12 months.

If this is clear, that is, your body has rid itself of the HPV virus itself, you will not need to be tested again for five years.

However, if positive or abnormal cells are found, your doctor will refer you to a specialist for further testing.

Amy added: “It’s cervical cancer awareness week this week, please go save it so they can catch things early.

“I had a vaccine against [cervical cancer] when I was in grade 11 at school, but he only does so many strains and I obviously caught the one I wasn’t vaccinated against.”

Amy became famous for the first time The Island of Love UK in season 5.

During her time on the reality show, Amy fell in love with fellow islander Curtis Pritchard before calling off their romance, leaving her heartbroken.
