Best answer: Nope! PlayStation Plus is not required to stream on Twitch. However, if you plan to stream multiplayer games with your friends or play online games with stream viewers, you might want to get a Plus subscription. It is not necessary for single-player games.
Streaming from your PS4 to Twitch
Streaming gameplay on Twitch has been simplified. You don’t need PlayStation Plus unless you’re looking to play with friends and viewers in online games. To start streaming on your PlayStation 4:
- press the To share button on your controller.
- Then select Broadcast game.
- A menu will appear giving you the option to choose where you want to stream: Twitch or Ustream.
- Simply connect your PlayStation and Twitch accounts and you’re good to go!
Connect with your viewers
When you decide to stream on your PS4, you can also connect a PlayStation Camera if you want to share a video of yourself with viewers. Your PS4 options will allow you to enable or disable this feature with a click. When you stream with the camera, it will create a small image in the image window in the lower right corner of your screen. It is left out of most of the important UI features of games.
In the options you can also mute and unmute the PS4 mic, mute your games, set comments as visible (which will appear in a panel on the right side of your screen), and send links to Twitter and Facebook as well as add your own comments. When you’ve finished your stream, you end the broadcast by simply tapping the Share button. PlayStation has done well to streamline setup and make it easier to stream from its console. Now broadcast your heart!
