Donation means Barlaston Cricket Club can stream matches online

A local cricket club will now be able to broadcast their matches live thanks to a donation.

A brand new partnership between St. Modwen Homes, who are working on the nearby Blythe Fields development, and Barlaston Cricket Club has given the club the ability to live stream all of its matches (including junior matches) online.

These games link to the Play-Cricket website – operated by the English Cricket Board, which provides details of live scores and highlights. The club can only afford this service thanks to the £650 sponsorship.

Not only will this help improve the spectator experience of the club, but the collaboration is particularly beneficial for parents and family who want to watch the match from the comfort of their own home.

And the hope is that the sponsorship will inspire more people to get involved and watch the games.

Barlaston Cricket Club offers excellent facilities for all cricket lovers, or for those who simply want to feel part of the local community. It has a thriving junior section with boys’ and girls’ teams aged 8-16, as well as four senior teams and a successful women’s team.

This creates a friendly, sociable and inclusive environment which has become an asset to the local village of Barlaston, as well as the wider community.

Phil Taylor, Chairman of Barlaston Cricket Club, said: “We are extremely grateful for the kind donation from St. Modwen Homes. This sponsorship allows us to provide an online facility to promote the club so people can follow our progress when they can’t make it to the games. Everyone now has the chance to follow our teams.

“It’s a great way for us to bring the community together and we’re thrilled to have had this opportunity. Our partnership with St. Modwen Homes has made this happen, and we’re so grateful for their support in this exciting endeavour. .

Jo Winston, Director of Sales at St. Modwen Homes, added, “It’s always an honor to support our local clubs, and we’re proud to make sure we’re lending a helping hand to our communities.

“Building strong relationships with those around our developments is something we are passionate about, and this gift is just one of the many ways we want to give back.

“At St. Modwen Homes, we know the importance of these local groups within their communities and because of this, it is important to us that they thrive. We are especially delighted to see Barlaston Cricket Club playing via their live streams and wish them well for the season!
