Elgato Stream Deck’s Latest Update Includes GIF Icons, Editable Text, and More

A year ago, Elgato Gaming introduced the next level of streaming gear to the gaming community in the form of the Elgato Stream Deck. Since its launch, this small piece of hardware has received many updates, introducing new content and improving the overall value of the product. In addition to the anniversary, the manufacturer of the product released a new update to celebrate.

According to the press release, update 3.0 for Elgato Stream Deck introduces four new features in the product: drag-and-drop magic, editable text, GIF icons, and a revamped action list.

The new search bar for the new action list is now more accessible than ever. In the new search bar, streamers can now enter a keyword into the query, and this will immediately open all actions related to the keyword. Along with a new search engine, streamers can also use the edit button next to the search bar and edit the list of actions to suit their preferences.

Similar to custom key icons, the new update now allows users to activate GIFs while they are live streamed, making the Stream Deck much more personal and serving as an outsourced version of its owner. While the editable text will allow players to easily customize color size, font, size and more.

Finally, the new update also uses the magic of drag and drop; streamers can now drag their original icons into the Key Creator directly from the website onto the Stream Deck, eliminating the requirement for players to upload the images and add them from there. The new drag and drop functionality also allows users to drag an app onto the canvas and it will automatically generate an “Open” action with the corresponding icon. In addition to that, players who drag an audio file onto the canvas, it will automatically produce a Soundboard action.
