The Elgato Stream Deck has been around for a little while now, but like a fine wine it gets better with age. Recently, Elgato added support for Mixer offering direct integration with Microsoft’s streaming platform.
If this has sparked your interest in the product, here’s everything you need to know about setup.

Configure your Stream Deck
The first thing to do is to put the Stream Deck into operation on your PC. For this you will need to download the Stream Deck companion app from Elgato.
It is important to note that it is not necessary to install the Elgato Game Capture HD software unless you intend to use it with your Stream Deck.
Once you have installed the Stream Deck companion app, connect the Stream Deck via USB and open the app to continue.
Link your Mixer account
Mixer’s functionality isn’t as varied as Twitch’s, but to do something platform-specific you need to link your account first.
- Open the Elgato Stream Deck App on your computer.
- Click it cog parameters.
- Select the accounts tongue.
- To choose Mixer from the drop-down list.
- Enter your username and password.
- Click on Log in.
Whenever you add a mixer feature, you will be given the option to choose which account to link it to. So if you have more than one account that you use regularly, it’s easy to switch between them.
What you can do
Mixer’s integration with Stream Deck currently covers a few basic features:
- Show you a number of live viewers on your Stream Deck.
- Post messages to chat.
- Slow down your conversation.
- Completely erase the chat from all messages.
To add any of these features, all you have to do is drag the one you want from the sidebar to where you want the button to be.
In the case of custom messages, the little settings window at the bottom of the app is where you’ll enter this. Put your text and give it a name so you can easily remember it when looking at the buttons.
The performance of all of these features is excellent, with instant responses. It would be nice to be able to set a stream title and game from the Stream Deck like you can with Twitch, but in small steps. Hope there is more to come.
Getting the most from your Stream Deck
The mixer-specific features are pretty slim, but when combined with everything the Stream Deck can do, you have a very capable tool in your arsenal. It integrates directly with OBS Studio and XSplit, allowing you to control most of the basic functionality of each with the push of a single button.
This is where you will get the most out of the Stream Deck and your Mixer Streams. Use it to change scenes, post messages to your chat, mute audio sources, and add some of the most interesting memes.
If you’re looking for custom icons as well, the Stream Deck Key Creator web app lets you choose from a variety of already created options. Or, just drop your own custom image directly into the Stream Deck app.
This hardware allows you to minimize the time you spend performing flow-related actions on your PC by giving you a single button to press instead. This way, you can focus on what matters most: your feed and your community.
