The 2020-21 season has been a flagship campaign for the WSL, as the league’s profile has increased significantly thanks in part to a title race that went on until the last day of the season in May.
Today, a year after the first season of WSL matches on the airwaves and digital platforms of NBC Sports, two-time defending champions Chelsea will look to defend their title again and become the first club (at the WSL era) to regain -titles back to back.

Manchester City pushed the Blues from start to finish, but ultimately fell short of two points (57-55) after 22 games played. In the end, the difference between the teams was Chelsea’s outright victory in Game no. 4. They drew 2-2 in the second leg, when only a win could have brought Manchester City together, although they would still have lagged behind on goal difference.
If you remove the two head-to-head matches from a season ago, Chelsea finish with a record 17V-2D-1D (53 points); Manchester City was 17V-3D-0D (54 points). Fine margins, as they say.
It looks like another Chelsea vs Manchester City title run – and it’s something we can all support, based on the evidence from last season – although 4th, Arsenal could also have their say over the course. the next nine months.
