Singer / songwriter Micky james will debut “Micky James – Live at the Met – the Philadelphia Special” this Wednesday (February 3) via the Bandsintown Twitch channel.

Originally built in 1908 by the opera impresario Oscar hammerstein, the Met Philadelphia recently completed a massive $ 56 million restoration led by Live Nation, and is the anchor for the revitalization of North Broad Street.

James, 27, has wanted to perform in the venue ever since he saw Bob Dylan give his first gig at the Met when it reopened. That dream came true in October when he and three other members recorded a live performance without an on-site audience.

An accompanying live EP, which will include an unreleased song called “Scars”, is due out later this month.

“The Met is a remarkable installation that has attracted many of the world’s leading artists while creating a new sense of pride for the region,” said Geoff gordon, Regional President, Live Nation Philadelphia. “The Met also serves as an inspiration for many local musicians and performers like Micky to Dream Big. When Micky approached us with the idea of shooting his first video on the Met Stage, we knew we were onto something special – a rising Philadelphia star on one of Philadelphia’s biggest stages.

In his music and personal style, James explores a sound and aesthetic nostalgic for a bygone era of rock-n-roll music, while maintaining a contemporary pop ambition.

“I wanted to take pieces of nostalgia and give it a contemporary twist,” says James. In July 2020, James released his latest single “Kings”. The song was acclaimed, with one reviewer calling it “a provocative uprising of the damned and disgruntled generation, and the most authentic rock n ‘roll you’ve heard in years.”
