The National Hockey League (NHL) has signed a streaming partnership with FanDuel to stream games live on the American games company’s Sportsbook platform.
The deal will see two regular-season games made available to off-market users in legal gambling states who have a corporate account or who have placed a bet on an event. FanDuel Sportsbook is currently available in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Indiana, and West Virginia.
The deal was made in collaboration with IMG Arena, which recently announced an extension of its betting operator rights agreement with the NHL to also cover the US market until 2021.
NHL Assistant Commissioner Bill Daly told ESPN: “Once we took the leap to allow our brand to be associated with sports betting companies, it wasn’t a big step. We provide images, we provide streams of our games.
Niall Connell, Managing Director of FanDuel, added, “As we continue to innovate and grow nationally, the ability to further improve the live gaming and betting experience becomes increasingly important. for our clients.
“Our goal is to become a one-stop-shop for all sports and betting content, and live streaming of professional sports like hockey is one of the many ways to achieve this goal.”
In addition to FanDuel, the NHL also has betting partnerships with William Hill and MGM Resorts International, and it is believed the deal could open up similar deals in the future.
