If you have a Stream Deck and want a better way to add your shortcuts to it, try Shortcuts by SENTINELITE. I’ve only been playing around with the plugin for a short time, but it’s hands down the best way I’ve found to add push button convenience to shortcuts on Mac.
I covered the Stream Deck and how I used it late last year. I’ve also created a variety of shortcut utilities to group shortcuts into scripts and applets that make it easy to add multiple shortcuts to your Stream Deck setup. SENTINELITE’s shortcuts dramatically improve the process by making adding a shortcut to the device as easy as adding an app.
One of the things I like about Shortcuts by SENTINELITE is that the plugin preserves the folder structure you use in Shortcuts and sorts the shortcuts alphabetically. It’s a small thing, but one that makes the experience of browsing large shortcut collections that much better, giving the plugin a leg up over many other shortcut utilities I’ve tried.
Much like adding an app to a Stream Deck button, you can add a custom icon and title to the button you create. There’s also a toggle to enable an accessibility mode that adds audio cues to plug-in interactions for the visually impaired.
If you’ve been putting off adding shortcuts to your Stream Deck, your procrastination has paid off because Shortcuts by SENTINELITE is the easiest solution I’ve found so far. That said, I’ve encountered a known bug that sometimes requires restarting the Stream Deck Mac app, which is annoying, but overall a small price to pay for the usefulness of the plugin .
You can download the Shortcuts for Stream Deck plugin, which is also open-source and free, from the Stream Deck Mac app or the Elgato website.
