Ontario University Athletics (OUA) and Channel Zero have announced that CHCH-TV will be the official broadcaster of the 113th Yates Cup.
The Queen’s Gaels will host the Western Mustangs in the historic OUA football conference championship game.
Coverage of the Yates Cup will begin on Saturday, November 20 at 1 p.m. ET.
It will be available on all CHCH platforms including TV, Youtube, and chch.com.
“We are thrilled to return to television to cap off a successful OUA season,” said Gord Grace, President and CEO of Ontario University Athletics. “It has been an outstanding 2021 season in so many ways, so celebrating our return to the gridiron and this exciting next chapter in the illustrious Yates Cup history books with this Championship broadcast means a lot to everyone involved.”
“The provincial reach of our station and the growth of our digital platforms make CHCH the perfect place for OUA football. We are looking forward to the game,” said Romen Podzyhun, CEO of Channel Zero.
The 113th edition of the OUA football championship will feature a rematch of the thrilling 2009 final between the Gaels and the Mustangs.
The backdrop for Saturday’s contest will be the beautiful Richardson Stadium in Kingston, Ont., where the host Gaels will look to cap off an undefeated season with their 24th Yates Cup win in program history and the visiting Mustangs are targeting a best OUA 33rd title in what will be their sixth straight appearance in the championship game.
