South African viewers finally got an extra option to participate in the 2022 Beijing Olympics with the offer of Showmax Pro.
Rights holder SuperSport has granted the platform permission to broadcast daily live coverage of the spectacular Winter Olympics as well as highlights.

With 109 events, seven sports and 15 disciplines, viewers can indeed expect an action-packed multi-sport competition with daily live coverage starting today and ending on Sunday, February 20, 2022.
Plus, this prestigious event will feature some of the biggest names in winter sports. Namely, Mikaela Shiffrin (alpine skiing), Suzanne Schulting (short track speed skating), in addition to the Canadian ice hockey team, Chloe Kim (snowboarding) and Natalie Geisenberge (luge), who are all ready to compete in China across a range of venues. Showmax Pro viewers will then be able to watch the highly anticipated Opening and Closing Ceremonies taking place at the Beijing National Stadium, the famous Bird’s Nest.
There will be no South African team at the Games, but Africa will make its presence felt in Beijing.
Viewers will also be able to watch six athletes from five African countries. Eritrea, Ghana, Madagascar, Morocco and Nigeria all compete in alpine skiing and cross-country skiing at the Winter Olympics.
Mialitiana Clerc, Madagascar’s first Olympic skier, French-born Nigerian Samuel Ikpefan (cross-country skiing) and also Ghanaian Carlos Maeder (downhill skiing), the third Ghanaian to qualify for the Winter Olympics.
