AFTER CSI: Vegas wrapped up its first season on December 8, people are wondering when the next season will be and if there will be one.

Some fans might be surprised as some original characters might not return for a second season as well.

Will there be in the second season of CSI: Vegas?

CSI: Vegas is a spin-off of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation.

From 2000 to 2015, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation aired on CBS for 15 seasons.

CSI premiered in October 2000 and quickly became one of the most popular TV series of the decade, ranking as one of the 10 most watched shows on TV for each of its first 11 seasons.

The show ran for 15 seasons and 335 episodes, plus a two-part film in 2015.

The main character in the original CSI is Gil Grissom who is played by William Petersen.

However, after several years on the original CSI, Petersen stepped down from the starring role to explore other opportunities.

After several years, CSI: Vegas debuted on October 6, 2021.

On Wednesday, December 15, CBS announced the show was renewed for a second season.

Who doesn’t come back for a second season?

Petersen decided to reprise his role as Gil Grissom from the original CSI; however, he only agreed to appear in 10 episodes of the first season.

Petersen won’t be in the second season, but he will continue as an executive producer.

The second season has been chosen for 2022, and it will also introduce a new Criminal Lab team.

The new team includes Paula Newsome as Lab Leader Maxine “Max” Roby, Matt Lauria as Level III CSI, Joshua “Josh” Folsom, Mandeep Dhillon as Level III CSI Allie Rajan and Mel Rodriguez as as Chief Medical Examiner, Dr Hugo Ramirez.
